For Individuals & Family
Relocating By Themselves
For HR, Talent, Global Mobility & Relocation Professionals
We know first-hand that relocation is both an adventure and incredibly stressful. No worries! We have moved across four continents — with kids! — navigating new customs and cultures at each step. We’ll help you avoid time-wasting confusion and quickly find the neighborhood, home and community that best suits your needs and lifestyle.
The professionals at Moderna have moved many times across cultures and continents. Let us be the local concierge to your recruits and new hires, easing the path for them to quickly find their just-right new home and community. We will help them reduce the uncertainty and stress of relocation, so your talent can hit the ground running from Day One.
RECRUITMENT SUPPORT
We add value to the onboarding effort by communicating with potential candidates, new employees, or transferees as early as possible - as they begin to weigh the pros and cons of the Pittsburgh region. We like to involve the accompanying spouse/partner at this early stage, fostering shared excitement about the move. We answer questions about the community, determine their relocation needs, discuss and ease adjustment concerns, make a successful transition plan, and guide them through what can otherwise be an overwhelming process.
AREA ORIENTATION
Thanks to our thorough pre-move need assessment, our personalized area orientation tours are fine-tuned to relocate individuals' and families' needs, preferences, and interests. If scheduled before the move-in date, these familiarity tours connect new employees and their families with the neighborhoods, housing options, and schools. They also build confidence in maneuvering around the new city, ensuring tremendous and realistic first impressions. We discuss commute options and times, health and medical care, local attractions, daily essentials, lifestyle preferences, worship, shopping, recreation, cultural, social offerings, and share up-to-date knowledge about the region’s economy. We are generous with contacts and tips for successful adjustment.

SCHOOLS
Families can explore and identify which school will meet their child's academic needs through the Pittsburgh region's public, independent, charter, and early religious childhood, pre-K, and K-12 schools. Niche ranks schools according to several factors, while Great Schools offer academic-only rankings.

NEIGHBORHOODS
The region offers a variety of communities to make new employees feel at home, such as a walkable urban neighborhood, suburb, or a peaceful rural retreat. After choosing preferred school districts, communities must suit their lifestyle and commute-time tolerance.
SETTLING-IN
We love it here in Pittsburgh and go above and beyond to ensure that our new employees and family love it, too! Settling-in service is geared more toward international assignees, but all benefit from it. We guide them in obtaining such necessary documents as SSN and driver’s licenses; arranging for driving lessons; car lease or vehicle purchase, automobile titles, registration, and insurance; opening bank accounts; obtaining cell phone service; turning on such household utility services as electricity, heating, cable TV and security; buying or renting furniture; arranging for furniture storage and more.
SPOUSE & PARTNER SUPPORT
We like to involve the accompanying spouse/partner as early as possible in the conversation, fostering shared excitement about the move. We share tips on the adjustment, host women only events and connect them to other newcomers and communities.
CULTURAL & LANGUAGE TRAINING
Moving to a new country and mastering a new job is daunting; having a family in tow increases both comfort and implications. Our cross-cultural coaching helps to prepare the employee and family for the ups and downs of an international relocation. Working with them during the most challenging stages of the assignment helps them build skills and identify strategies they can adjust and refine as challenges and opportunities present themselves in the new location.
